CED 6802: Trauma in Developmental Context

Course Description

2 hours. Prerequisite for CED7802 and CED7812. Focuses on the impact of trauma exposures on the developing child and ways these impacts may continue to manifest through the lifespan. Includes a review of normative development and impact of trauma on developmental tasks; an overview of the attachment system and variations in attachment formation; and discussion of the functional nature of behaviors. Implications for treatment will be briefly discussed.
